| The past year has seen a lot of activity in the Resource
Centre. The most visible change is the new physical arrangement of shelving
and workspace. Those who have been to the heritage centre will note that
the books and journals and tables now occupy a separate section and form
a self-contained unit. This allows researchers and the office staff breathing
space where space is a premium. Many thanks to Puan Sri Datin Susan Jalaluddin
for planning and coordinating the move.
There have also been other improvements. The videotapes have been sorted,
cleaned and entered into the database. This makes them more accessible
for use by members and researchers. Approximately thirty new publications
have been purchased for the library. In addition to these some very nice
volumes were kindly donated. We are always grateful for these and thank
the thoughtful donors very much. The newspaper cutting file continues
to be updated and the organisation of the Badan's collection of photographs
is underway.
Visitors to the Resource Centre exceeded 130, which more than doubled
the user count from last year. These are mostly students and researchers.
This is evidence that the effort put into expansion and organisation of
the Resource Centre is effort well spent.
Congradulations and thank you to Puan Sri Datin Susan who has been involved
with the development of the Resource Centre over the last ten years. As
always there is still a great deal of work to be done on cataloguing,
maintaining the slides and photographs, newspaper cuttings and filing.
We are eternally grateful to Jennifer Harvey and will miss her presence.
However, we truly appreciate the efforts of Hasnah Mohd Salleh and Chung
Mei Leng and Gretta Burnside who has just joined the team! Volunteers
please come forward.
